Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry is a mission of the whole church for youth, by
youth, with youth, and to youth. This mission is approached by
programs and activities in several distinct areas: catechesis,
community life, evangelization, justice and service, enablement,
pastoral care and prayer and worship. These are both gathered and
non-gathered activities. Our goal is to provide the young people of
Prince of Peace with an experience of community and faith as vital
members of the parish family.
Wednesday Nights
Junior High meets every other Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00.
This includes fun events such as skating, bowling, and lock-ins, as
well as prayer, parent/child activities, retreats, service projects,
and making friends.
High School meets every Wednesday night in the youth room from
6:30-8:00. The 9th and 10th graders meet for a time of interactive
faith discussions and activities where they will grow in their faith
by discussing real life issues and participating in faith building
activities. Similarly the 11th and 12th grade class will meet this
year for a catechism class; this will be a time for serious
discussion and analysis of what it means to be Christian and
Catholic as a young person finishing high school and preparing for
college. Both classes are taught in an informal setting and are
mostly discussion based. Following this they have free-time in the
gym and youth room to play basketball and volleyball, x-box and
play-station, and pool and ping-pong.
Service and Social Activities
Each month the youth group hosts one social and one service
activity. Past social activities have included ski-trips, movie
nights, lock-ins, and paint-ball. Past service activities have
included cooking dinner for needy families, Habitat for Humanity,
and the Angel Tree project. Watch the calendar for upcoming events!
Sunday Nights
On Sunday nights high school students come together for Mass,
dinner, and fellowship time:
5:00 p.m. LIFE TEEN Mass: At the weekly LIFE TEEN Mass, teens and
their families experience the depths of God's love through the Word,
the community, and the Eucharist. Relevant preaching and quality
music bring the Catholic Mass to life.
* Middle-school and Teens are encouraged to get involved in the Mass
by serving as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Greeters, and Ushers.
* All parishioners and families are invited to attend
* Contemporary Christian music provided by the Prince of Peace LIFE
TEEN Band.
6:15 p.m. Dinner and Fellowship: After LIFE TEEN Mass, high school
teens are invited to meet for dinner and activities in the gym and
youth room. Dinners take place either at the church or at a local
restaurant- watch the calendar for details.
