What is the Hope
Ministry?
Hope
Ministry is a network of support within our parish
community. Some parishioners are facing life challenges and others
who have been “graced” by God’s gifts are asked to use their talents
to help these parishioners. Hope reaches out to parishioners
facing difficulties with compassion and confidentiality. It also
lets us move beyond ourselves and a small circle of family and
friends toward our larger parish community by helping those with
needs.
The Ministry
is coordinated by a skilled professional who assesses each service
request and assigns a volunteer minister to meet the need.
Volunteer ministers are pre-qualified so that their interests and
abilities are matched to the request. Volunteer training and
educational sessions are offered quarterly.
Volunteer
Opportunities
Opportunities to
serve could include preparing or delivering a meal, sitting with an
ill family member to provide a break for a caregiver, providing
transportation to a local doctor’s appointment, visiting with a
homebound person or referrals to other agencies.
Most activities
require a 2-3 hour investment. The Hope Ministry does
not provide any healthcare services, healthcare referrals or
personal care at any time during the delivery of our services.
